BMW X6 Lease Review - The BMW X6 is a powerful and well balanced 4x4 with a great look and plenty of power under the hood. There is a choice of two phenomenally quick petrol engines, which burn fuel like you wouldn’t believe, making the diesels a more practical choice for anyone driving more than 15,000 miles a year. The entry level models are pretty powerful and will suit most drivers, but the 40d is very fast and can handle those with a lead foot. The top M50d unit is quicker still, but doesn’t like to be driven too hard or too fast, making it something of a let-down.

What is impressive throughout in the drive, despite the big and heavy body the body feels uniquely flat in the corners and won’t roll unlike some of the other larger models. That being said, its weighty frame will pick up the bumps of the road but on any decent carriageway this shouldn’t be a problem. Combine that with nice accurate steering and decent feedback and you get a good, all around model. Inside you get a beautiful finish and plenty of refinement, with no engine noise and only a little wind noise from the bulky frame.

Despite the size, and the five seats as standard, the rear of this car is only going to fit a child in the middle seat and the two adults either side are going to be slightly uncomfortable. That said, there is plenty of legroom and headroom in the back, but the boot suffers from a rear bench is better suited to three children rather than three adults, because the middle seat is narrow and shoulder-room is pretty tight. The boot is a decent size, but it'll struggle to take tall items due to the X6's sloped roofline, while the 40/20/40 split of the rear seats is useful but not enough to carry the taller items you might expect to fit in.

The X6 makes up for this in terms of standard kit, this is easily one of the best equipped models in the line. BMW’s patented Professional iDrive system looks great in the dash with a 10 inch colour display controlled by rotary controller. It’s sharp contrast screen and easy-to-use menus give the standard user access to satellite navigation, heated seats, parking sensors and all the music they can store on the 20 gigabyte hard-drive, while Xenon headlights and alloys make up the exterior. The range topping M sport is a real head turner, with electric sports seats and bigger everything, from the styling to the alloys.

Finally, six airbags and stability control will keep you safe while an immobiliser and alarm have helped BMW achieve a five star security rating. This is a good model for long travels and a great family car that is packed with kit for the modern driver.
