Ten Second Review
If you are “greenergy-minded” and looking for a car that supports your efforts, look to the Toyota Auris Hatchback 1.8 VTI Hybrid Icon. This electric/fuelled 1.8 litre engine with front wheel drive and manual auto clutch is a well-made family hatchback that offers good economy and reliability.
First, the green factor. The 1.8 VVT-i averages 74 mpg and has a wonderfully low CO2 emissions level of 86g/km, meaning that there will be no road tax. This hybrid has a regenerative braking system that harvests kinetic energy and reduces brake wear, further enhancing the car’s economy profile.
The interior is considered drab and the materials rather cheap. However, the car is well kitted out. The tight suspension makes the VVT-i more fun to drive and limits body lean when cornering. The hybrid’s interior noise is less than its fuel counterparts, but its CVT automatic gearbox is noisy.
The hybrid is equipped with electronic stability control for improved safety and stability.
Space-wise, the front seat and boot area space is plentiful but rear space is not particularly capacious.
The Auris VVT-I hybrid costs more initially, but is economical long-term. Enjoy your greenergy ride.
