Ten Second Review
Toyota Yaris Hybrid Lease Review - When you need an economical about-town car with a spacious interior and boot, and plenty of equipment, include the Toyota Yaris Hybrid on your list.
The most obvious positives are the hybrid’s excellent fuel economy and low emissions. Choose the Yaris Hybrid Icon model for the maximum economy return (up to 85.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 75g/km). The step up Excel, with 16-inch wheels yields 78.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 82g/km. Those results mean the car is VED tax free and also exempt from the London Congestion Charge.
The light steering is great for easy in-town manoeuvring but not so much for quick turns; there is also noticeable body roll. At higher speeds, the Hybrid is fidgety but the refreshed suspension smoothes down the bumps and jolts of rough town roads. The CVT automatic gearbox causes a lot of engine whine in acceleration.
This 5-door Yaris has good leg and head room and the wide opening doors allow easy access to the rear seat. The boot is generous at 286 litres, increased to 768 litres with split seats folded. Even the entry level Hybrid is kitted with plenty of standard equipment for safety and comfort.
Ultimately, the value of the Yaris Hybrid is in its green economy and in-town use.
