Ten Second Review
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer Lease Review - Many couldn’t help but wonder whether the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer lives up to the hype of being an MPV as well as the first-ever front-wheel drive manufactured by the German automotive giant.
BMW fans may find it to be not as stylish as they’re used to. That’s certainly a given since MPVs were never known for their aesthetics. It looks bulky, and the larger 18-inch alloy wheels even add bulk. That does not mean, however, that it is entirely without any style, since BMW still equipped it with its trademark grille and some subtle creasing on the panels to create a visual contrast to its bulky appearance.
The interior does not disappoint as well, with its lavish leather lashings and red stitching. Get in, and you’ll immediately feel that you are within a car that spells “premium” in bold letters.
You would think that driving this bulky Tourer from BMW will be difficult. That is not the case. Quite the opposite, in fact, since it manages to still be light and easily steerable.
Unfortunately, many may find the engine to be quite noisy, especially during start-up. Even when it speeds up from a complete stop to 62 miles per hour in only 8.9 seconds, the noise refuses to settle into a smooth rhythm. That does not affect its power, though, since it drives smoothly and flawlessly.
The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is one reliable ride. What it lacks for in space it more than makes up for with its solid build and the lavish interior. Of course, if you want more space, all you have to do is flick a switch and the rear seats will fold up electronically, freeing up some much needed space. Its low fuel consumption also makes it one efficient machine. Clearly, BMW’s attempt at a front-wheel drive is spot-on, and there are sure to be others following close behind.
