Ten Second Review
Fiat Panda Lease Review - The newest third generation of the Fiat Panda is not just a fresh lick of paint; it transforms this old favourite into a new vehicle for modern motoring. It's still aimed toward the core market of small city motoring but now incorporates more style and consideration for family drivers. If you're looking for something that's affordable, slick and practical then this is the option for you. It may be a little chunkier, but that's probably necessary in a world when skimpy just doesn't cut it anymore.
The Fiat panda is a cute looking and mild mannered hatchback that’s a great city drive with plenty of in-built practicality for all but the larger of families. Starting with the look, this is a car that is very small at only around 260cm across, which makes it look chic and cute while being practical in today’s city environment, with the hood and tailgate well-made to look the part with Fiats typical splayed bonnet and chunky rear.
Under this bonnet you get a reasonable choice of engine, there is a fairly redundant 1.3 litre diesel and a tempting turbocharged 0.9 twinair, but the 68bhp 1.2 petrol is all you will need to nip around town although its 68bhp makes getting up the slipway something of a chore, but it is much more flexible in the urban environment that suits this model. The ride quality is excellent; this is probably the only city hatchback with 4x4 as an option and even the two wheel drive models will soak up the bumps, while light steering and a small turning circle helps with street parking. However, there is some difficulty at higher speeds, it is less settled on a straight but nippy in the corners. Moving inside you get plenty for the driver and little for the rear passengers, with a raised driving position and a console designed to be more practical than the Fiat 500 but a lack of legroom in the back and a fifth seat only available as an option.
The small car styling works against the Panda here, the tall body makes room for adult heads but the short frame means any legs needing it will be almost unable to access it. The boot is small too, only 225 litres, while you are again relying on the options list to get split folding seats to increase it to a paltry 850 litres.
This is the same with equipment, while the added options list is exhaustive you only get a CD player as standard and it is well worth looking at the Easy models, with air conditioning and remote locking at not much extra cost. The Trekking and 4x4 models provide much better ride quality, along with a more definite kit package, but are the most expensive in a fairly cheap range. This is a great car for a couple or small family working within an urban environment, providing you can shell out for the additional kit.
