Ten Second Review
Volvo XC90 Lease Review - The Volvo XC90 helped to set the standard for high quality family-oriented 4x4s when it was first released more than a decade ago. Because of this calibre it is perhaps unsurprising that the company has looked to keep the range alive in the following years. However many of its rivals have surpassed the car in terms of quality and design.
What the XC90 does have going for it is an impeccable safety and reliability record. This will obviously be very important to anybody who is looking to transport members of the family in it. Furthermore the design it still quite attractive, even if it is starting to show some age on the inside, and it is certainly quite charming when compared to many of its rivals.
With close comparison to its rivals comes the realisation that the car does have a number of problems. The diesel engine is hardly the most fuel efficient in the class, which is something of a surprise considering Volvo themselves have created one of the best 4x4 engines around with the V40.
Furthermore the car isn’t as much fun to drive as many other 4x4s, with the handling in particular being somewhat airy and inexact. Couple that with a lot of engine noise and you have a car that may be fun to take on a tumble and can certainly do a job, but is rapidly being outclassed by many of its rivals.
